WeVideo is an online tool that combines the simplicity of a basic-level editor with the power of a premium editing software.
With its ‘JumpStart’ technology, you can upload videos in a flash and start editing them in the Storyboard.
And apart from this, the tool is packed with advanced features like Chroma key, motion graphics, transitions, and 1 million+ stock media files that you can access by switching to the ‘timeline’ mode.
Here is the list of all the awesome things you get to experience in WeVideo:
WeVideo Pros
#1. What many of the users like the most about WeVideo is the novice-friendly interface and dashboard that anyone can navigate.
With lots of blank space and only a few tabs in the menu bar at the top, it leaves no room for confusion. All it takes is a single click or drag & drop to use any feature.
And as I just mentioned above, the JumpStart technology of WeVideo cut down the import time to a few seconds from a few minutes.
So no more waiting for the video to upload. Start your work at the speed of light.
#2. With 1 million stock images, videos, and audio clips, you always have a variety of media files in your fingertips to include in your project.
And all that without any extra cost. Sign up for any business plan of WeVideo, and you’re all set.
#3. WeVideo allows you to work on high-resolution videos up to 4K Ultra HD so you can provide a remarkable experience to your viewers.
And since these high-end clips take up an insane amount of space, you get cloud storage facility with the app where you can store all your files and even projects that are still in progress.
That way you not only free up your local drive space but also get the flexibility to access your files anywhere, anytime.
#4. Talking about flexibility to access files lead me to another fabulous quality of this tool and that is device compatibility.
Because WeVideo is an online service, you can log in to your account using any device, from anywhere. You can start your work in a Windows or Mac PC and end it on your smartphone or tablet (doesn’t matter whether it runs on Android or iOS).
WeVideo syncs all your work across different devices, and everything remains intact even if you use multiple machines to complete a project.
#5. And finally, after finishing the editing part, you can share your creation with everyone on social sites like Facebook or YouTube directly from the app.
It also powers you to collaborate with your colleagues on group projects and get feedback from them.
WeVideo Cons
#1. WeVideo checks almost all the boxes, but the only thing it fails to address is some other advanced features mainly used by experienced video makers.
For example, you don’t see Multicam editing, support for 3D and 360° videos, LUTs, Picture in Picture, etc.
WeVideo pricing plans and payment options
WeVideo is a subscription-based service and offers you four different plans to choose from.
The Power plan costs $4.99/month when you pay annually, while the other three tiers – Unlimited, Professional, and Business – set you back $7.99/month, $17.99/month, and $29.99/month respectively (billed annually).
While Professional and Business plans include the new WeVideo Essential package that gets you 1 million stock multimedia files, you don’t get this luxury with Power or Unlimited plan.
And just for some additional info, you can pay via credit card or PayPal to complete your order.
Do I recommend WeVideo?
Yes, I do recommend WeVideo.
While I am not at all impressed by the Power plan as it limits you to just 30 minutes of videos per month, individuals can opt for the Unlimited and Professional pricing option.
And if you run a business or work with a group of video editor, the business plan is something you should look for.
In fact, if you do some math, you would find that it’s the most cost-effective plan of WeVideo because in just $29.99 every month, you get three licenses.
That means around $10 per month per license with all the features WeVideo has to offer including 1 million stock media files and collaboration tools.
Not a bad deal for a group of friends who all want a video editing tool.
Having said that, experienced videographers or movie makers should opt for a different software like Video Pro X because WeVideo still lacks some advanced functions like Multicam, 3D, and VR editing.
