VideoPad is an entry-level video editing software.

With its minimal user-interface, it becomes an excellent place for beginners or casual users to put their first step on.

You would see a vast collection of tools with many familiar functions like masking tools, video stabilizer, timeline, etc.

However, there are many key features that I saw in other software but didn’t see in VideoPad. Some of these notable features are Multicam editing, Action cam, audio mixer, and themes and templates.

Having said that, here’s a list of all the things you can do on VideoPad:

VideoPad Pros

#1. As I just mentioned, the user interface is simple, and the existence of a variety of editing features makes VideoPad an apt choice for basic-level editing.

Though a more professional user might not find it very impressive.

#2. VideoPad enables you to import, edit, and export 4K videos. And what I really appreciate in this tool is its speed that can give even the professional level editing software a run for their money.

#3. When it comes to device compatibility, there is no shortage of devices it can support. In fact, VideoPad is the only video editing service in this test that works on all the major operating systems.

Whether it’s MacOS, Windows, Linux, Android, or iOS, you can find a dedicated app for all the platforms.

However, what I didn’t like is the firm license policy that allows you to install the app only on one computer at a time.

#4. The sharing facility is up to the mark and enables you to upload your clips on YouTube, Flickr, and Facebook directly from the app.

Apart from this, you can also share your creations online with your family and friends via Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive, or export your videos on DVD to watch it on your TV.

#5. And finally, VideoPad facilitates users to edit 3D videos and work on clips recorded by a 360° camera.

VideoPad cons

#1. Cloud storage is not available. You have to save your files either in local drives or export them on DVD or USB drives.

#2. Though I’m happy with what I saw in VideoPad, I still can’t ignore that some of the primary functions like Multicam module, audio mixers, Actioncam, etc. are missing in this software.

VideoPad pricing plans and payment options

The pricing plans of VideoPad is not as simple as its user interface.

There are four different pricing tiers.

First of all, VideoPad comes in two editions – Master’s and Home.

The Home edition allows only two audio tracks and no external plugins, and that is the only difference between these two editions. Otherwise, everything is the same.

Talking about price, while you can buy the Home edition only by a one-off fee of $39.95, the Master’s version has three different pricing plans including:

• one-time fee of $69.95
• a quarterly plan that charges you $16.50 every quarter, and
• monthly plans of $5.50/month.

And at the final checkout, you can pay via PayPal, check, or credit/debit card.

Do I recommend VideoPad?

I would recommend only the free, non-commercial version of VideoPad because the price seems to fade away when you compare it with the overall feature and performance of the software.

In the same pricing range, you can get a better alternative in the form of Cyberlink PowerDirector which is also appropriate for more advanced usage.

So except for the free variant, I would not recommend buying the paid license of VideoPad.
