Adobe Photoshop needs no introduction. Ever since Adobe launched it in 1990, it has been the undisputed heavyweight champion of the photo editing field and became synonymous of photo manipulation. I found it to be the most reliable photo editing tool for almost anyone like – hobbyists, students, professional Photographers, graphic designers, etc. And since Photoshop is now the member of Adobe’s Creative Cloud family, it is the only tool (along with Lightroom Classic) that offers cloud storage. So no doubt, it is the most popular tool out there but, can we call it the ‘perfect’ tool? Take a look at its pros and cons and decide yourself.

Photoshop CC Pros

#1.Number of editing tools

Photoshop offers a wide range of editing tools to let you do almost all the fancy tricks you expect from a photo editing tool. You can take that stunning photo of Waikiki Beach,  but crop out the delivery trucks in the foreground, to cleaning spots, or even an animated GIF of surfers. You can find all the tools in the toolbar located on the left side of the screen. Just select one and start giving a new life to your images.

The best part is, most of these editing tools come with different variations of their own. For example, right click on any tool that has a small triangle beside it and you’ll get to see the different variations of that tool.

#2. Storage:

With Photoshop CC you can store your files in the local drives as well as use the cloud storage provided by Adobe. The total cloud space differs according to the plan you choose. For example, if you’re on a free trial (lasts only for seven days), you get 2GB of cloud storage. However, if you upgrade to or buy one of their paid plans, your total cloud storage can range anywhere from 20GB to 100GB depending on monthly subscription. On top of that, you can pay Adobe some additional amount if you’re planning to increase your cloud storage without upgrading your subscription plan.

#3. More than one device per license:

When you buy one of the Photoshop CC subscription plans, it allows you to use the tool on two different computers. And it’s totally fine if both the machines are running on different operating systems. The only catch is, you can’t run the software simultaneously on both the computers. So, if you’ve opened the application on computer A and at the same time, you also want to open it on computer B, then you’ll first have to close the app on computer A. Otherwise, it won’t even run on computer B. Got it? Great!

#4. Money-back guarantee:

All the Photoshop CC subscription plans come with a money back guarantee assurance. But there are, of course, conditions apply. If you’re not happy with the product and want a full refund, then you’ll have to contact the Adobe team within the first 14 days of purchase. But, for some reasons, if you miss the 14 days deadline, you’re still eligible for a partial refund.

#5. Sharing

Let’s face it, most of us edit photos for the sole purpose of sharing it on social media, right? Well, Photoshop CC knows it very well, and that’s why it allows you to share your photos on your favorite social media platforms in just a few clicks without minimizing the current window.

Photoshop CC Cons

#1. No longer a pay once & for all product

With the arrival of Creative Cloud came some good things as well as some bad things. To start with the bad one, Photoshop is no longer a solo, pay once & for all product. You have to pay for it every month as long as you use the product. But the good thing is, you also get access to other applications like Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC that can help you take your editing game to the next level.

#2. Compatible with limited devices

If you’re someone who likes to edit your photos on mobile, then Photoshop CC is not for you. Photoshop only works on Mac and Windows computer and that too with specific versions. Like: If you’re a Windows user, then your PC must be running on Windows 7 or Windows 10 version 1709 or later. Similarly, for Mac, only the Mac Sierra 10.12 or later versions support Photoshop CC.

Adobe Photoshop CC plans

To purchase Adobe Photoshop CC, you’ll have to buy one of Creative Cloud subscription plans, and it starts from $9.99/month when billed annually. With this plan, you also get Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic CC. But if you want only the Photoshop CC software, then you’ll have to spend $20/month on the “Single App plan” (billed annually). Sure, this one is a little pricey but not to forget it also gets you 100GB cloud storage.

Besides this, if you’re a student or teacher, then I’ll highly recommend you to go with the “All Apps plan” that gets you a 60% discount in your first year.

Do I recommend Photoshop CC software?

Of course, yes. Photoshop CC is still the best photo editing software out there, and under the wings of Creative Cloud, it became even better. Of course, the price is a tiny issue here because you have to pay for the product every month, but considering the number of editing tools you get plus the additional tools and cloud storage makes it worth 10X more than its current price.
